A Glimpse of Things To Come

Scripture: Exodus 4:10

Then Moses said to the LORD, "Please, Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither recently nor in time past, nor since You have spoken to Your servant; for I am slow of speech and slow of tongue."

Moses was chosen by God to be a great deliver, but he could only see his weakness, and not His strength. Moses made an excuse for his lack of faith in God to use him for His glory. The excuse that he made was that he was not eloquent in speech. How could he speak to those in authority over him, when he spoke slowly, and was not confident to speak? What is amazing about his stance, is,  he was speaking to God about his inability to do something, that God had told him to do. By speaking to God in such a way, he made God angry; because he could not see past his own inability enough, to trust God with it.

Therefore, God allowed Aaron, the brother of Moses, to speak to Pharaoh in place of Moses. However, Moses was required to still speak the words of God to Aaron. He was not granted permission to abort what God had called him to do. The mouth of Moses would  still be used as an instrument of deliverance, through the obedient vessel of his brother.

How amazing is the grace of God! He still used Moses, inspite of his lack of faith and trust in his own ability. Even though Moses did not recognize that the call on his life superseded his weakness; God still used him to bring a nation of people out of bondage. His purpose was destined for greatness, no matter the weakness of his state of mind. His voice had a purpose, and would be used for God's glory.

Reflection:
There are things that God has called us to; that sometimes, even when we cannot see the whole picture; we become nervous - because it is something that we are unfamiliar with. The unfamiliar things that God brings into our presence, can be very exciting; as well as a bit overwhelming. When God shows us a glimpse of what is to come, it gives us time to relax into the thought of what He is about to give us.

Seeing a glimpse of things that are about to unfold, helps us to trust God even the more. As we learn to trust God even more, we learn to totally depend on Him; knowing that He will always be with us in our obedience to Him. When God gives us an assignment; He has already deposited within us, the ability to do what He has called us to do. Let us have faith in the ability that He has put within us; and not try to give our assignment to someone else.
